SONS of Collingwood legend Gavin Brown, Cal and Tyler, have extended their contracts with the club, along with emerging talent Nathan Murphy.

Drafted within 12 months of each other between 2016-17, the trio are members of Collingwood's next wave that also includes another father-son in Josh Daicos (son of Peter), Isaac Quaynor and Jaidyn Stephenson. All are 21 years or younger.

"The future is theirs to write but right now Cal, Tyler and Nathan are seen as important to what is next for Collingwood," the club's list manager Ned Guy said.

Cal Brown is the most advanced of the trio. He played 22 matches in 2019, for a total of 35 across his three seasons at the Holden Centre to date. A pressure forward who spent periods on the ball last season, Cal is playing for more midfield time in 2020.

His younger brother, Tyler, is yet to make his debut after being drafted as a 17 year-old in 2017, the same draft in which Murphy was recruited.

Tyler was next in line as an AFL emergency on a number of occasions last season as he matured into a mid-fielder with an elegant inside-outside game. Murphy endured a luckless 2019 and because of injury played very little football – and no AFL football - after playing two matches in his debut season.
