SYDNEY will field a small forward line against Carlton with superstar Lance Franklin the only tall included in the side for Friday night's clash at the SCG.

Gary Rohan has returned to the team after missing last week's trip to Brisbane and will need to give Franklin plenty of support against the Blues, who will likely employ a spare man in their defensive 50.

Gun young defender Jacob Weitering was talked about as a possible opponent for Franklin but he'll start the game on the bench, so that task will likely fall to Liam Jones, Lachie Plowman or Sam Rowe.

Swans youngster Tom McCartin had provided a strong second target for Sydney in his three games before he was axed on Thursday night.

Rohan will start on the bench for the home side alongside the recalled Nic Newman, Harry Marsh and Ryley Stoddart.

Carlton named Jack Silvagni to start his return game on the pine, with Jed Lamb, Weitering, and David Cuningham the other replacements.
