The AFL has released the names of players invited to attend the 2014 NAB AFL Draft Combine in October.

Ninety-six players have been invited from every state and territory. TAC Cup team the Sandringham Dragons has seven players invited while the Calder Cannons, Murray Bushrangers and Western Jets each have six players named.

The list also includes four international players; Paddy Brophy (Ireland), Connor McKenna (Ireland), Marvin Baynham (USA) and Evan Bruinsma (USA).

AFL National and International Talent Manager Kevin Sheehan said the NAB AFL Draft Combine is an important part of the decision-making process for AFL recruiters.

“The Draft Combine will bring together the best young talent currently playing under-age football to Melbourne for a final round of testing,” he said.

“We have also invited four international players who impressed at International Combines in Dublin and Los Angeles earlier this year,” he said.

To attend the NAB AFL Draft Combine, players must be nominated by at least four AFL clubs.

The Draft Combine measures a combination of athleticism and football skills as well as assessing each player’s personality and character – all essential elements clubs need to consider in the drafting process.

The 2014 NAB Draft Combine will be conducted at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne from Tuesday September 30 to Friday October 3.

A further 100 players will be tested at State Combines in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

The NAB AFL Draft Combine is part of the NAB AFL Rising Stars Program, which supports grassroots players and football communities and helps young Australians fulfil their dream of playing in the AFL. The NAB AFL Rising Stars Program provides recognition, and a clearly identifiable direction for a player’s career.
