DANIEL McStay has extended his contract with the Brisbane Lions by a further two seasons.

McStay was taken with pick No.25 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft and has committed to the Lions until at least the end of 2017.

The versatile key position player played the final nine games of his debut season, including a standout three-goal outing against Melbourne in round 19.

McStay is the fourth of six Lions draftees to recommit from last year's crop with 12 months still remaining on their contracts.

He joins Rising Star winner Lewis Taylor (2016), defender Darcy Gardiner (2016) and midfielder Nick Robertson (2017) as pledging their allegiance early.

"I’m just happy to be McStaying,” McStay joked.

"Seriously though I have really enjoyed my time at the club so far and I was just rapt to get the opportunities that I did this year.

"The club is establishing a really good young list and I feel we are working towards something special. I’m excited to be a part of it."
