PORT Adelaide expects to know the seriousness of Jay Schulz's mid-foot injury on Thursday.

The gun forward had scans on his injured right foot late on Wednesday after spraining it against Essendon on Tuesday night.

Schulz arrived at Adelaide Airport at lunchtime on Wednesday, on crutches for precaution but with no visible taping or support around his foot or ankle.

A club spokesman said that although he would have scans on Wednesday, the club wouldn't learn the results of them until Thursday.

Power coach Ken Hinkley told reporters after his side's 25-point win over the Bombers that Schulz played through the same injury last season and that at worst, he should be available for round one.
