CARLTON captain Marc Murphy says Blues fans "can rest easy tonight" with former skipper Chris Judd set for selection for Friday night's clash with Hawthorn.

The dual Brownlow medalist was sidelined for six weeks after he injured his hamstring six minutes into his first game of the season in round five against the Western Bulldogs, when he was named as substitute.

Judd played in the VFL last weekend and got through unscathed, prompting coach Mick Malthouse to give him the all clear for senior selection this week.

Murphy said Judd's experience and leadership would give the side a much-needed boost.

"It's great to have someone like Chris back in the side, he's such a great player and great leader around the club. The boys are rapt to see him back.

"He adds a fair bit of experience. We're not expecting him to come out and be best on ground, we just want him to play his role for the side, and that's all you can expect.

"He's missed a lot of footy, had a good run last week in the Northern Blues and is feeling good so it's great to see him back out there."

Meanwhile, the Blues are confident key defender Michael Jamison is fit to play the Hawks, despite carrying a sore shoulder.

Jamison took part in the team's light training session at Visy Park on Thursday.

Murphy said there was no doubt the defender would front up to face the Hawks.

"He's just got a bit of a sore shoulder, but he's fine. He's right to go."

Recruit Sam Docherty finished last week's game with a calf complaint, with Dr Peter Larkins telling AFL.com.au that he may be in doubt.
