And even juicier odds for the Giants to lead the Bombers for the best part of three quarters on Saturday.
After all, this was a clash between the undefeated league leader (with a whopping percentage of 176.7) and the winless bottom side.
But both long-shots came in.
Jeremy Cameron was identified last year as a future star of the AFL, and the high-leaping left-footer enhanced his growing reputation by bagging a club-record of six goals for the Giants against the Bombers.
The youngster received nine votes in the AFL Coaches Association champion player award, pipping Essendon's David Zaharakis (eight) for top honours.
Cameron, who recently turned 20, had just 12 touches (10 kicks) but caused maximum damage with most of them.
He pulled down eight marks, five of which were contested grabs, and proved too good for more experienced opponents, Tayte Pears and Cale Hooker.
The boy from Dartmoor in south-west Victoria has kicked 15 goals this season to be equal-sixth on the league goal-kicking table.
His 22 AFL games have netted a club-record 44 goals – 21 clear of his nearest teammate, Jonathan Giles.
Giants coach Kevin Sheedy believes Cameron's potential is "scary", predicting post-match that his young gun will eventually rival any key forward he has coached.
And, as Sheedy explained, that's an illustrious group that includes the likes of premiership players Matthew Lloyd, Scott Lucas, Terry Daniher, Paul Van Der Haar, Roger Merrett and Paul Salmon.
Other notable features of the coaches' votes for round six include:
• Veteran key forward Jarrad Waite receiving votes in his first game of the season after overcoming a calf problem.
• Adelaide superstar Patrick Dangerfield achieving a perfect 10 in his side's loss to Hawthorn, six votes more than anyone else on the ground.
• Geelong's Steve Johnson a standout as best-afield with nine votes in his 200th game
