PARENTS of Essendon players remained concerned after Tuesday night's meeting with Bombers officials, but left confident the club was doing everything it could to clear the names of their sons.

Essendon champion Tim Watson, father of captain and reigning Brownlow medallist Jobe Watson, said although the club was limited in what it could tell parents as the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency investigation got underway, he and wife Susie departed "feeling a lot better about the situation.

"I can't speak for every other parent there last night, but it wasn't a mood of anger amongst the parents," Watson told SEN on Tuesday.

"They were there to get information and they asked some excellent questions. Some of those questions got answered and some of those questions didn't get answered.

"But I don't think anyone would have left that meeting last night believing anything other than that David Evans and James Hird are doing everything they possibly can for the players there."

Evans addressed the parents at the club's Windy Hill headquarters, and Watson pleased with the chairman's honesty.

"David is a straight-shooter. He's an ethical, values-based person, and if you wanted your son to be mentored by somebody, you could not find a finer man than David Evans," Watson said.

"I thought what he had to say last night … there was no sugarcoating anything, there was no dodging, there was no weaving, there was no PR spin on what he was trying to say. He was as factual as he possibly could be under those circumstances."

Watson said parents sought clarification on what supplements may have been used, but the club was unable to answer.

"I'm assuming they are still in the dark, or maybe they're not in the dark and they can't tell anybody because of this on-going investigation," Watson said.
