SUMMARY
The people of Geelong have been eagerly awaiting this clash, which will be the first night game ever played at Simonds Stadium. It will also be the first match played in front of the new Players Stand, which has replaced the old Doug Wade Stand at the southern end of the ground. A sell-out crowd of 33,500 is expected to turn up, and barring a last-minute hiccups, they will get to see Gary Ablett running around on his old home ground in a Gold Coast jumper for the first time. The Cats should win, but the Suns have been in very good form of late.

3. Simonds Stadium will become the 15th venue in VFL/AFL history to host a premiership season match under lights.

4. Geelong is ranked second for total points scored this season; Gold Coast is 13th.

5. The Cats are ranked second for uncontested possessions in 2013, while the Suns are 12th. But one area in which Suns have been better than the Cats this season is clearances. Gold Coast is ranked sixth; Geelong is 18th.
