FREMANTLE captain Matthew Pavlich spent Saturday night in a Perth hospital after splitting the webbing between fingers but remains hopeful he will be OK for round two.

Pavlich posted a photo on Instagram on Sunday morning, revealing the extent of his hand injury. The picture showed him lying in a hospital bed with his left hand heavily bandaged.

As part of the post he also wrote this, "Went straight from the oval last night to hospital for my hand & finger to [be] fixed & stitched up. No breaks & looks good for Rd 2."

Pavlich suffered the nasty looking injury in the last quarter of Fremantle's 28-point win over the Eagles at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night.

He kicked three behinds and collected 14 possessions and will be better for the run after playing just one pre-season match following off-season surgery on his back, hip and Achilles tendon.

However, the Freo skipper faces a nervous wait after he was reported for charging Will Schofield in the second quarter of Saturday night's derby.

Pavlich appeared to try to break up Schofield's marking attempt and found himself caught in the air when the impact was made.

The Freo captain looked to be trying to slow his momentum before he crashed in to the back of his Eagles opponent.

North Melbourne forward Drew Petrie said on Channel Seven's GameDay that the charge should be thrown out by the Match Review Panel.

Fremantle has a week's break before its next assignment against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on April 6.

The MRP will convene on Monday morning, with results due out on Monday afternoon.
