IT'S EMERGED Mark Neeld's heavily scrutinised pre-match address before the disastrous 148-point loss to Essendon was filmed by the club.

Neeld revealed the speech was taped by a member of staff using a handheld camera, and it is used for professional development purposes.

"It made it sound as if Cameron Ling and Channel 7 were sitting with the big wide camera," Neeld said.

"It's something that happens at every single meeting we have."

He said he hadn't watched it back, but Neeld and the club had made the decision for the host broadcaster to have access to the footage weeks earlier.

Neeld said he was determined to give fans an insight into what happened.

"We can't control the message," he said.

"Part of being involved with a footy club, you don't get a massive amount of opportunity to show your supporters what happens.

"Sometimes you speak to people in the public and they still think coaches stand there on the chair and bang and jump and carry on.

"I thought the perception of that was completely wrong in the public."
