RICHMOND forward Jack Riewoldt has been forced home early from the Tigers' Alice Springs community camp with illness, and will miss tonight's clash with the Indigenous All Stars.

The 24-year-old flew back to Melbourne on Friday after coming down with flu-like symptoms.

Riewoldt wasn't expected to play on Friday night anyway, given he continues to recover from his post-season hip surgery.

Other Tigers who will miss the game are Nathan Foley (achilles), Jake King (knee), Dylan Grimes (hamstring), Ivan Maric (groin),Troy Chapin (knee) and Alex Rance.

Young gun Reece Conca is expected to take part with limited game time after overcoming complications with a foot stress fracture.

The All Stars will be captained by Essendon's Nathan Lovett-Murray, following the withdrawal of Hawthorn spearhead Lance Franklin.

Franklin pulled out on Monday after a cyst burst behind his knee – the one he hyper-extended in 2011 – and leaked fluid into his calf.

He is expected to miss a few weeks of training but remains confident of being available in round one.

Franklin has remained in Alice Springs this week with the All Stars and Hawthorn teammates Cyril Rioli and Shaun Burgoyne.

Both will miss the game – Rioli with a corked thigh and Burgoyne after off-season ankle surgery.

Adelaide's Jared Petrenko will also watch from the sidelines as he returns from a post-season shoulder reconstruction.

Brisbane Lion Ash McGrath, St Kilda's Terry Milera, Port Adelaide's Brendon Ah Chee, Jake Neade and Chad Wingard, and Greater Western Sydney's Shaun Edwards and Zac Williams are others who weren't included in the final All-Stars squad.

The match begins at 7pm CST.
