WEST Coast has been dealt an early blow with star midfielder Matthew Priddis substituted out in the opening minutes of Saturday night's game against Port Adelaide with suspected concussion.

Priddis was wrapped up with his arms tied by Port Adelaide's Angus Monfries and tackled head first into the turf.

He wasn't able to pick himself off the ground and was taken from the playing field in AAMI Stadium's mini ambulance, but was able to walk down into the rooms from the boundary line.

Eagles' substitute Jamie Cripps has replaced Priddis.
