The West Australian Football Commission is seeking expressions of interest from an energetic person capable of strategically leading a motivated and dynamic group of regional volunteers in growing the great game of Australian Rules Football (AFL).

Applicants should be prepared to be actively involved in the leadership of all participation activities and develop exciting new initiatives in order to grow football within the region.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing the strategic development programs within the environments of both junior and senior football, including some participation responsibilities.
  • Coach, Umpire, Club and Volunteer Education.
  • Assisting with Football events.
  • Working closely with Volunteer Leaders, Community Football Stakeholders and WAFL Club leaders.
  • Providing the administrative support to enable the Region to “Grow the Game” and achieve healthy outcomes.
  • Having the responsibility for football reaching its full potential within the Goldfields region.
Essential selection criteria include:
  • Sport related Degree, or established competency in related fields.
  • Level 1 Coaching Accreditation.
  • Ability to lead and interact confidently with groups of participants and stakeholders.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of sporting programs for junior/ youth.
  • Have a sound knowledge of school football systems.
  • Sound knowledge of issues relating to the development of football, and priorities of current development policy.
  • Sound knowledge of the community football system.
  • Demonstrative ability to innovate.
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Able to work after normal business hours and on weekends.
Desirable selection criteria include:
  • Level 2 Coaching Accreditation.
  • Knowledge of the WA Football structure.
In partnership with the Regional Football Development Council Chairman, the successful applicant will be a highly motivated person who can demonstrate the characteristics we are looking for to achieve the desired outcomes involved with the position.

The role is based at DSR office in Kalgoorlie and will service the surrounding area as well as down to Esperance. The successful applicant will receive a competitive remuneration package including a fully maintained vehicle and phone, as well as the opportunity to work in Australia’s premier sporting industry. This role is located in Goldfields Region as a 12 month Maternity Relief contract.
