GREATER Western Sydney is considering rolling the dice and bringing veteran Brett Deledio straight back from injury against former side Richmond next week.

Deledio passed a fitness test on his latest calf setback on Saturday morning and is in the frame to be recalled into the senior side along with star forward Toby Greene.

Greene, who hasn't been seen at AFL level since round five due to a persistent foot injury, trained alongside Deledio in the gruelling session at Giants headquarters.

Deledio last played in round six, sidelined by a hamstring injury before injuring his left calf after a 2017 campaign crippled by setbacks to his right side.

The Giants face West Coast on Sunday in a bid to stay in the top eight, before hosting Richmond in round 17 at Spotless Stadium.

When speaking to ABC Radio on Thursday night, Deledio said a positive outcome from Saturday's session would have him in Leon Cameron's thoughts for a recall against the Tigers.

"(I'd be a) pretty good chance, if I can tick off a big session on Saturday," Deledio said.

"Myself and Toby Greene will get put through our paces and if we can tick that off we'll be putting our hand up for sure. I suppose it's up to Leon and his coaches as to where they want to play us."

Initially diagnosed as a 10-week injury for a late-July return, Deledio admits he has pushed his case for an early return.

"We were overly cautious because of my history from last year as well," he said.

"I sat down with our docs and physios and said, 'Look we've got nothing to lose in terms of, I've spent the time letting it heal and then I've got the k's into the legs, we may as well push and see how we can go'."

The 31-year-old, two years into a three-year contract at the Giants, said he was looking forward to making a statement.

"(It's) feeling great at the moment," he said.

"I'm itching to get back out there, really (keen to) try and show my wares before hopefully we can make it into a finals campaign."

"Everything's going really well, I haven't even given it a second thought when I've been running or training. I'm back to where I was at the end of pre-season leading into games."

Deledio has played 13 of a possible 39 matches since his arrival at the Giants.
