FREMANTLE skipper Matthew Pavlich has been ruled out of Sunday's clash against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium due to Achilles soreness in his left foot.

There was some doubt surrounding Pavlich heading into last week's Western Derby after he pulled up sore following the Dockers' round 19 win over St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

He played uninhibited and kicked two goals in the 24-point loss to West Coast.

But the veteran will not fly to Melbourne this weekend and the club is hopeful he will be fit to return for next Sunday's home clash against the Demons.

"Although Matthew will miss Sunday's game, we are hopeful that he will be available for selection next week," football operations manager Chris Bond said.

"We will monitor the situation over the course of the week. We will then be in a better position to make a decision about Matthew's availability."

Despite talk during the pre-season of Pavlich being rested at various stages this year he has played every game to-date, kicking 36 goals.
