SIX PLAYERS will enter the AFL's first free agency period as restricted free agents.

St Kilda's Brendon Goddard, Essendon's Angus Monfries, Melbourne's Brent Moloney, Port Adelaide duo Danyle Pearce and Troy Chaplin and Richmond's Luke McGuane are the only players eligible for restricted free agency after Collingwood announced deals for Travis Cloke and Harry O'Brien on Thursday.

Goddard has been strongly linked to the Bombers, while Monfries is understood to have attracted interest from Port Adelaide.

Moloney has made public his desire to leave Melbourne.

A list released by the AFL in early September has since been updated, with 11 unrestricted agents re-signing or retiring.

That list also included St Kilda pair Jason Gram (restricted) and Justin Koschitzke (unrestricted), neither of whom appeared on the revised list. It would appear they have committed to the Saints for at least another year.

Under free agency laws, an unrestricted free agent may automatically move to the club of his choice but an offer to one of the six restricted free agents may be matched by his club, which has right of first refusal to his services.

Any unrestricted free agents that do not wish to remain with their original club must enter the draft or seek a trade.

Clubs that have a net loss of free agents will be compensated draft picks according to a formula determined by the AFL.
