COLLINGWOOD forward Anthony Rocca wants to keep playing beyond this year.

Rocca, 31, not only has the desire to play on past his injury-riddled 2008, but believes he will as he currently works through contractual negotiations with the club.

An ankle injury has kept him out since round 13, and before then he managed just seven games owing to persisting problems with a different injury to the same foot.

However, he has not been perturbed by his disappointing availability this season and wants to go around for a 15th year.

"I definitely want to keep playing," he said, at AAMI Stadium after he watched the Magpies steam into the second week of finals.

"I'm pretty sure that's going to happen. I'm not quite sure where I am [contractually], we've just started talking over the past week or so and just seeing where we're both at.

"I've got two years with the extension of one so next year is the extension, but both parties have to come to an agreement and we've just got to work those things out and they'll take care of themselves."

Rocca hasn't played since the Magpies' 10-point loss to the Western Bulldogs.

His injury came a bad time for the Pies, with fellow forward Ben Reid hurting his foot in the same game.

The subsequent in-house suspension of Alan Didak and two-week loss of Dale Thomas has meant Mick Malthouse has been forced to find his goal-kicking answers elsewhere.

This year, the club has unveiled promising forwards Chris Dawes, John Anthony and John McCarthy with exciting results.

It's this event that has kept Rocca from becoming completely dejected about his own situation, and the 238-game player was a picture of elation after Saturday's game.

"It was frustrating because I'm not out there but I'm rapt for these kids," he said.

"We've got a lot of kids playing and a lot of senior guys out, and before the game we were a bit iffy about how the situation would go.

"We're a team that when our backs are to the wall, we seem to fight a bit.

"For blokes like Dawes and Anthony who stood up in the second half, they really did well and performed and played their role."
