The St Kilda Football Club has released detailed membership figures for 2011.

Membership has remained steady for the Saints after reaching a record high in 2010.
A total of 39 263 people signed up to be Saints’ members in 2011, including 6 422 new members.

This is marginally higher than in 2010 (39 227) but continues the Clubs’ strong membership performance (see table below). Around 7 500 members from 2010 did not renew in 2011.

St Kilda Football Club CEO, Michael Nettlefold said this year’s membership figures were encouraging but showed the organisation must do more to retain existing supporters.

“At the Saints, we value our long term members and thank them for their continued support.”

“We also welcome those new Saints members who have decided to seal their support for the red, white and black.”

“These figures show that while we have achieved a lot over the past four years, there is room for improvement.”

“We understand that membership must be a value for money proposition and our supporters want to live and breathe every game with the team.”

“Across the whole organisation we are on a path of improvement and growth. We hope to bring Saints supporters on that journey with us going forward.”

The Club saw a 13 per cent increase in take up of Level 3 Reserved Seating, valued at an affordable $60. Overall, Reserved Seat sales were up in 2011 by 11 per cent.

1 200 people have been upgraded from the Saints’ Social Club waiting list.

Encouragingly, almost 40 per cent (13 972) of the membership, who indicated their gender, are women.

Not surprisingly, the majority of Saints’ members are Victorian (31 470) followed by Tasmanian (1 850) and West Australian (1 755).
