More than 70 members of the Legacy community visited the Whitten Oval last month to have a kick of the footy, attend a BBQ and tour the world class Elite Learning Centre.

Western Bulldogs General Manager of Education & Community Engagement, Chris Christoforou, said the day, hosted by the Western Bulldogs, demonstrated the power of sport to break down barriers.

“Footy is such a common language to us all - it helps build important bridges between people despite their differences and it has the power to be all inclusive,” Mr Christoforou said.

“It was brilliant to see everyone having lots of fun and truly making the most of the day,” Legacy Activities Coordinator Vladimir Keca added.

Despite the chilly weather, spirits were high with our special visitors thrilled to meet Woofer and to discover many a special treat in the Bulldog’s show-bags.

Legacy is a volunteer organisation dedicated to caring for the families of deceased veterans.

These outings provide much needed respite for Legacy widows who care for 380 Legacy dependents with a disability.

Both organisations are already looking forward to the next Legacy-Doggies outing!
