GREATER Western Sydney forward Jake Riccardi has claimed the round 14 NAB AFL Rising Star nomination after a breakout performance against Fremantle.

Riccardi booted an equal game-high four goals in just his second AFL appearance in the Giants' 38-point win on Saturday at Optus Stadium.

Alongside Giants spearhead Jeremy Cameron, who also kicked four goals, Riccardi was able to make a huge impact on the game as a key forward with 12 disposals and nine marks.

The former VFL player was selected with pick No.51 at last year's NAB AFL Draft having been previously overlooked by clubs but has made a clear impression in his short time in the system.

He banged down the draft door with 38 goals last season at Werribee before the Giants gave the 195cm option an opportunity and Riccardi has shown why in his first two AFL appearances.

The 20-year-old booted two goals from 16 disposals in an excellent debut against West Coast in round 13 before backing it up against the Dockers last week.

He joins teammate Tom Green (round four) as the Giants' Rising Star nominations so far this season.
