PORT Adelaide defender Alipate Carlile will miss the next five weeks after aggravating a pre-existing hip complaint in the club's loss to North Melbourne in round 14.

Carlile carried the injury for a month prior to the clash with the Kangaroos, but succumbed during the game, limping from the ground late in the third quarter.

The 24-year-old sat out the Power's loss to the Brisbane Lions last weekend, and scans have revealed he'll need an extended period of rest for the injury to heal.

Small forward Simon Phillips added his name to the injury list after dislocating his shoulder in the loss to the Lions, but remains a chance to play against St Kilda at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.
