Safina, who has been using the Lexus Centre facilities during her successful run at the Australian Open, was cooling down in the ice baths the day before the Grand Slam final.
"It's been great to use the ice baths here, especially when it's been so hot in Melbourne," Safina told collingwoodfc.com.au.
The Russian tennis sensation, who will take on American Serena Williams in the final on Saturday, was happy to be signed up with the Magpies this season.
"I wish them all the best this year and maybe if I am in Melbourne over the next few months I will attend a match."
Safina had no problems posing for a photo with Josh Fraser as the two players, from different sports, share the same sponsor in adidas.
"As long as the clothes are adidas, that's all that matters."
With Safina on board this season, Collingwood's membership total is now at 26,465.
