Collingwoodfc.com.au conducted its annual mid-season player survey, with the players answering 10 questions anonymously.

Supporters also had the opportunity to take part, with more than 1,000 questionnaires completed.

The results will be published exclusively on Collingwoodfc.com.au.


Earlier in the week the playing group's opinion on which Magpie is leading the Copeland Trophy after 13 rounds was published.

What was the best win this season
The playing group highlighted the come-from-behind win against Adelaide in round nine as the best win from the first 13 rounds.

The recent win over Melbourne on the Queen’s Birthday also received a mention while only two players penned in ANZAC Day.

What the supporters said….
No surprises here with over 50% of the Magpie Army nominating the 28-point win over Carlton in round three as the best win with the ANZAC Day victory not far behind.

What was the toughest moment this season
The club’s preseason training camp in Flagstaff, Arizona was the “popular” choice.

Specific mentions included:

“Toovs going back with the flight against Geelong.”

“Breaking my foot.”

“Losing Browny for the season.”

Which teammate has improved the most over the first half of the season
There was a clear difference here between player and supporter nomination with the majority of the Magpies nominating Dale Thomas with Cameron Wood and Leon Davis also in the mix.

What supporters said…
For the supporters, over 70% filled in Leon Davis as the most improved. 

Which Magpie would you buy in your AFL Dream Team for the next 11 rounds
There was a wide range from the players with Dane Swan and John McCarthy both mentioned.

Swan is priced under $400,000 after dropping over $100,000 since round one.  The three-time Copeland Trophy winner is averaging the fourth highest number of points per round in the competition (112.70).

McCarthy is owned by just 4,066 teams and is averaging 78.5 points.  He has gone up $60,000 and is valued at $219,900.

Best goal kicked this season
Anything Andrew Krakouer has kicked this year was the general response by the playing group.  Dale Thomas’ effort from the boundary against West Coast also received some attention.

Who has been the best VFL player this season
VFL-listed player Tom Sundberg was the standout answer.  The 22-year-old is on the radar of several AFL clubs after featuring in the best in eight of the nine VFL matches this year.

Which Magpie has the most improvement left in him over the remaining 12 rounds
Nick Maxwell and Alan Didak were consistent answers from their teammates.

Best one-on-one match up

Ben Reid’s blanket on Nick Riewoldt was the popular choice.

An even spread of names here with Hawthorn’s Lance Franklin, Gold Coast’s Gary Ablett and Carlton’s Chris Judd featuring.
