Reigning Copeland Trophy winner Dane Swan continued his good run in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year voting by polling a maximum of five votes from one head coach and three from the other. The 26-year-old has now polled in five straight games for a total of 37 votes.??
Also receiving five votes was the Power’s David Rodan, who had a match-high nine clearances and booted three goals.??
The breakdown of voting saw 16 votes awarded to the Magpies and 14 votes to the Power.??
Scott Pendlebury (30 disposals, 5 tackles) was another standout for the Pies polling seven votes (4,3) while young gun Chris Dawes (3 goals) polled his first vote in season 2010.??
With Hawthorn’s Luke Hodge not featuring in the voting last weekend, Swan now moves three votes shy of first place in the leader board.
In the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year, head coaches vote each week on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.
Past winners of the prestigious award include Gary Ablett Jnr (2007-09), Simon Goodwin and Adam Goodes (joint winners in 2006), Barry Hall (2005) and Warren Tredrea (2004).
