WITH one round remaining in its disappointing season, midfielder Chris Masten says West Coast has "wasted one whole year".

Masten says the Eagles' playing group was disgusted with the football they had played in 2013, putting their coach John Worsfold under pressure.

The Eagles have copped back-to-back 10 goal losses to Geelong and Collingwood as their season has slipped into the abyss.

They sit 13th on the ladder with one round remaining after beginning the year as one of the premiership fancies.

"The last two haven't done any favours for 'Woosha', and as a playing group that's a bit disgusting because it would be horrible to play bad games like that and not get him another contract," Masten said.

"The boys have definitely got to stand up. We all want to play for him. He's a great coach so hopefully we can get it done."

Masten thinks his side may have fallen victim to believing in the hype surrounding its premiership prospects at the start of the year.

"We probably listened to it a bit much," Masten said.

"People were saying we were going to be playing off in a Grand Final, we're the team to beat, stuff like that.

"We maybe got a bit ahead of ourselves because we haven't played one game where we've even looked like that.

"It's very disappointing. It definitely feels like a wasted opportunity. It's such a hard gig.

"How many years are we going to be good? And we've just wasted one whole year. Disappointing."

Masten said the players had been put on notice ahead of the round 23 clash against Adelaide.

"A lot of players are probably playing for their careers a little bit," Masten said.

"Woosha's made mention, a lot of the boys have not been playing up to AFL standard, and that's not good enough.

"Our players out there playing aren't up to the AFL standard, so they've really got to sort that out.

"Obviously the boys have got to put their best foot forward and really finish the season off well, because it's been a bit unacceptable our season."
