ESSENDON is unsure whether in-form forward Stewart Crameri will be fit for Saturday night's AFL match against Melbourne.

Crameri had adductor muscle soreness during the Bombers' win over Greater Western Sydney on the weekend.

He is equal-second on the AFL goalkicking list with 23.

"We will have to monitor him during the week and we will see how he comes up over the course of the week," Essendon football manager Paul Hamilton told the club website.

Essendon ruckman David Hille is edging closer to a return to the AFL as he recovers from a calf muscle injury.

Hille has not played since round two, while Paddy Ryder and Tom Bellchambers have starred in his absence.

The Bombers are confident that Hille and David Myers (hamstring) will return to football this weekend.

"We are really excited they will be back playing football at some level this weekend," Hamilton said.

"It will be great to see David Hille back as he has been such an important player to us in the past."

While the Bombers are also set to regain Dustin Fletcher for the match against Melbourne, where they will start strong favourites, Dyson Heppell could miss another week.

Fletcher was rested with a minor upper leg injury for the weekend's win over Greater Western Sydney and Heppell also sat out the match because of a sore knee.

"We will see how [Fletcher] gets through training over the course of the week but he is more likely to play than not," Hamilton said.
