Lions utility Tim Notting will miss this Saturday night's blockbuster clash against Collingwood after accepting a one match ban handed down by the AFL's Match Review Panel on Monday night.

Notting was charged with a Level Three striking offence against North Melbourne defender Scott Thompson during the first quarter of last Saturday night's match at the Gabba.

The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit point and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction.

His early guilty plea means that he will miss only the one match.
