The Gabba will be going ‘Green’ in the lead-up to this Sunday’s clash between the Brisbane Lions and Geelong to help promote environmental sustainability in the community.

The Lions will be teaming up with Major Sponsor Conergy - a global manufacturer of renewable products - to raise awareness through a number of initiatives that will run both during the week and on match-day.

A specially designed ‘Green’ backdrop will be used during all media interviews in the lead-up to the match while the Lions players themselves will don ‘Green’ training guernseys at different times during the week.

On match-day, the Lions will run through a ‘Green’ cheersquad banner while young Lions Tom Rockliff and Todd Banfield will feature on pre-recorded ‘Green’-themed video segments on the Gabba’s big screen.

Out in The Lion Park (located outside Gate 2), there will be plenty of environmentally friendly activities for the whole family to enjoy before the game including a Conergy Solar House, Solar S Cube educational unit, handball target and Power Pedal Bike.

You can also enter the iPad competition to win a Conergy Power Tracker and go into the draw to win two (2) tickets to the Club Champion event at the end of the year. There is also an opportunity to win a Conergy Premium Solar System if you pedal the fastest and create most energy.

There will plenty of other giveaways at the game including recycled ‘Green’ supporter cards while the Conergy German Scientist will also be making a special appearance at the Gabba.

Even the Club’s website has been temporarily turned ‘Green’!

It promises to be a huge week and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday when the Gabba Goes Green.

In the meantime, the Club encourages all Lions members and supporters to join our players, coaches and staff in taking steps to become ‘Green’.
