AMID a career that has included some great highs and some disappointing lows, Geelong defender Josh Hunt will reach a milestone on Saturday night at the SCG when he runs out in his 150th game.

Recruited from Mildura Imperials, via the Bendigo Pioneers in the 2000 NAB AFL Draft, Hunt has become one of the Cats' most reliable defenders.

"I thought I'd be lucky to play one AFL game when I first came to Geelong," he said.

"Actually, I didn't even think I'd get drafted when I was in the TAC Cup.

"It was great to make my debut in 2001. To play one game was huge, to play 50 was really good as well.

"To get past 100 and now to 150 is something I never thought would happen, so it is a great feather in my cap."

Hunt experienced the best and worst moments of his career with in the space of two years.

In 2007 he was a member of Geelong's drought-breaking premiership team that thrashed Port Adelaide in the Grand Final.

But 18 months later he seriously injured his knee during the NAB Cup and needed a reconstruction.

The setback robbed him of the chance to be part of the Cats' 2009 premiership team.

"You've just got to take those things in your stride," Hunt said.

These days, however, Hunt is back to his best form. He picked up 20 possessions last weekend against Port Adelaide and even ventured into the forward line and booted a goal.

Hunt has helped the Cats get to second place on the ladder after three rounds, although he's happy to leave premiership favouritism with Collingwood.

"All we can do is keep playing how we want to play," he said. "We can't worry too much about what the Magpies are doing.

"When we play them in round eight we'll start worrying about what they're doing.

"We need to just keep doing what Chris Scott tells us to do. Against Port Adelaide we did really well and we want a similar effort when we play the Swans."
