Jonathon Beech
(calf, one week): The rookie-listed forward will miss this weekend's JLT Community Series game with Geelong. Picked up the minor calf injury against Richmond.

Kyle Cheney (groin, one week): The defender is expected to be available for the club's third and final pre-season game against the Brisbane Lions, otherwise he will play a SANFL trial. Carried the injury through the end of last season.

Brad Crouch (hamstring, round one): Given Crouch's injury history, the midfielder is at long odds to face Greater Western Sydney in round one. After missing the entire pre-season competition, Crouch will more than likely play in the SANFL to build his fitness base before being considered for the senior side. Crouch injured his hamstring for the third time in January.

Tom Doedee (knee, round one): The young defender is being managed carefully in his return from knee soreness. The Crows are aiming for him to be available for the start of the SANFL season.

Cam Ellis-Yolmen (knee, season): It's season over for the big-bodied midfielder after scans revealed a torn ACL in the pre-season game against Richmond last Friday.

Mitch McGovern (knee, one week): The Crows won't take any risks with the young forward. He'll be kept in cotton wool this weekend after picking up a slight knock against the Tigers.

Alex Keath (groin, one week): The rookie-listed defender will more than likely play in a SANFL trial next weekend having been managed during the pre-season with groin soreness.

Jake Lever (hamstring, one week): Adelaide's defence will be get a boost when Lever returns for the club's final pre-season game against the Lions. Lever is back running and will return to full training later this week.

Paul Seedsman (groin, round one): The speedy winger will most likely start the season in the SANFL given the amount of training he has missed. Yet to return to full training and will miss all of the JLT Series.

Rory Sloane (fractured eye socket, round one): The gun midfielder is aiming to be there for round one. If anyone can return earlier than expected, it's the classy All-Australian vice-captain.

Scott Thompson (shoulder, round one): The veteran midfielder won't play in the pre-season competition. He's yet to return to contact work, but with his vast experience and excellent fitness base, there's a chance the 34-year-old could be in the frame for round one.

Others

Ruckman Sam Jacobs is likely to play against Geelong after sustaining a back injury last weekend. Defender Luke Brown is on track to make his first appearance of the year in his return from a groin injury. Key position prospect Elliott Himmelberg is back to full training after struggling with shin splints. Midfielders Riley Knight and Jordan Gallucci will likely play this weekend after being rested. - Lee Gaskin

Jarrod Berry (knee, 1-3 weeks): Berry went in for a minor clean-up almost a month ago and has progressed nicely. Could be available in a couple of weeks, but the club is in no rush.

Allen Christensen (collarbone, 8-10 weeks): Christensen had surgery on Monday after fracturing his collarbone in a training mishap at the weekend. It was the same injury that cost him the second half of last season.

Jono Freeman (cheekbone, 4-6 weeks): Freeman broke his cheekbone at training and had minor surgery. He'll be available early in the season.

Josh Schache (knee, 4-6 weeks): The young forward did not require surgery after slightly straining his medial ligament, but is racing the clock to be available for round one.

Sam Skinner (knee, TBC): The luckless young defender is on the comeback from a second ACL injury he sustained last July and has been running strongly. The club has not put a timeframe on his return.

Others

Andrew Phillips (foot, indefinite): The big man suffered stress fractures in his foot in January and is likely to miss the first month of the season. The Blues placed him on the long-term injury list.

Daniel Gorringe (Achilles, 1 week): Good news for the Carlton ruckman when what appeared a dire injury suffered during the hit-out against Melbourne last week turned out to be nothing serious. He could be back to face Freo next week. - Ashley Browne

Jamie Elliott (ankle, 1-2 weeks): The star forward strained his left ankle at training last Monday and won’t play on Saturday against Fremantle, but remains a chance to take on Richmond on March 11.

Josh Smith (ankle, 1 week): The defender injured his left ankle at training this week, and while cleared of serious damage, won’t take part in the Pies’ clash with the Dockers in Mandurah.

Ben Sinclair (hamstring, 8-12 weeks): The luckless defender had surgery to repair the left hamstring tendon he tore against Essendon two weeks ago. He faces a lengthy spell out of the game, having endured hamstring issues across 2014-15.

Tom Langdon (back, TBC): The defender is progressing well and back in full training, but isn’t ready for match practice yet as he recovers from a back injury sustained in the gym.

Tom Bellchambers (knee, 2-4 weeks): It seems unlikely Bellchambers will be ready for the start of the season after a summer hindered by knee surgery. He began change of direction running at training last week but the Bombers don't want to rush his progress after injury issues in recent years.

Cale Hooker (hamstring, 1-2 weeks): Hooker is touch and go to play in round one after taking a cautious approach in his hamstring recovery. His only match practice before the season-opening clash with the Hawks may come in a VFL practice game a week before the Hawthorn meeting.

Michael Hurley (ankle, test): The star defender hurt his ankle in the dying moments of Sunday's pre-season loss to Gold Coast and hobbled from the field. The Bombers have cleared him of any major damage and he might play against Geelong next week in the Bombers' final pre-season hit-out.

David Myers (finger, 6-8 weeks): Myers' shocking luck with injury continued when his finger was caught in a teammate's jumper last week at training. He underwent surgery and was placed on the Bombers' long-term injury list, meaning he will have a delayed start to the season.

A virus went through the club last week and struck a number of players, including youngsters Aaron Francis and Kobe Mutch, but both should be available for the club's next game. - Callum Twomey

Harley Bennell (left calf, indefinite): Dockers coach Ross Lyon has ruled Bennell out of round one, but hopes the injury-plagued star will be available in the early rounds of the season – if his rehabilitation goes to plan.

Zac Clarke (knee, mid-season): A fresh bout of surgery on his troublesome knee last month will keep the Freo ruckman on the sidelines until at least mid-season.

Alex Pearce (partially fractured right leg, mid-season): Was only weeks away from resuming full training when re-fractured the same leg he broke in round nine last season during his rehabilitation in January, and is now looking at a mid-season return.

Cory Gregson (foot, 8-10 weeks): Gregson will miss the start of the home and away season after suffering a setback with his troublesome foot. Still on crutches, the Cats will give him plenty of time to recover before he is cleared to train and play.

Cam Guthrie (calf, 1-2 weeks): Hurt his calf early in the opening pre-season game and is unlikely to be considered until at least the final JLT Community Series game. Should be right for round one.

Lachie Henderson (hip pointer, available): Copped a knock before half-time in the first game of the JLT Community Series but he should be fine to take on Adelaide this week.

Jake Kolodjashnij (groin, 1-2 weeks): After battling glandular fever around Christmas, he has struggled with a sore groin since resuming full training. Aiming to play the final JLT game but is no certainty.

Daniel Menzel (general soreness, available): He will be managed for the rest of his career after his successful return from four knee reconstructions in 2016.

Sam Day (hip, season): Day is ever-so-slowly recovering from his horrific dislocated/fractured hip sustained in the opening JLT match. He'll be largely immobile for a couple more weeks before starting his rehabilitation.

Jarrod Harbrow (ankle, 2 weeks): The reliable utility has returned slowly from pre-season ankle surgery, but coach Rodney Eade says he will play in a NEAFL practice match on March 18. Without the match conditioning, he is unlikely to play round one, but will be back in the seniors shortly after.

Jarryd Lyons (Achilles, 1 week): Like Ablett, the Adelaide recruit is expected to play his first match in Suns' colours against the Bulldogs next week. The club says it has been ultra-cautious with a minor Achilles niggle.

Trent McKenzie (calf, 1-2 weeks): McKenzie picked up his injury in the Suns' intraclub match a couple of weeks ago and what they first thought was a Baker's cyst (behind his knee) was actually a calf strain. He's not far away.

Jacob Hopper (back soreness, 1-2 weeks) the club's top draft pick in 2015 is being treated conservatively after suffering from stress fractures in his lower back last season.

Jeff Garlett (hamstring, 3-4 weeks): The pacy forward injured his hamstring right at the end of the Demons' 54-point JLT Community Series game against Carlton. Garlett is racing the clock to be fit for round one, but at this stage looks unlikely to be part of the team.

Mitch Hannan (teeth, TBC): The athletic draftee copped a stray elbow at training on Tuesday and had his two front teeth knocked out. Hannan went off to visit the dentist after the session to have the teeth replaced and it's not likely he'll miss too much time.

Dougal Howard (ACL, round nine): Coaching staff are having to tell the second-year ruckman to slow down, such is his progress. The aim is for Howard to return to playing around the club's bye week in round nine.

Angus Monfries (shoulder, one week): The experienced forward could be available for the Power's final pre-season game. However, round one is more likely.

Jesse Palmer (groin, round one): Has been on a modified program to avoid pushing too hard and causing an injury. Not expected to play in the pre-season competition and will more than likely come back through the SANFL.

Matthew White (calf, one week): The winger is a week-by-week proposition after twinging his calf in the intraclub trial and missed the Power's loss to St Kilda. A chance to return this week.
