WESTERN Bulldog Tom Liberatore might have fallen just short of a new single-game tackles record, but he's one of three Dogs to make the AFL's Team of the Week for round eight, brought to you by Accor Hotels.

Liberatore laid an incredible 19 tackles against the Demons, with teammates Marcus Bontempelli and defender Dale Morris also named in this week's side.

Giant Heath Shaw and Cat Lachie Henderson, as well as first-timers Robbie Tarrant (North Melbourne), Mark Baguley (Essendon) and Sam Docherty (Carlton), join Morris in defence.

Greater Western Sydney's Josh Kelly and North running machine Sam Gibson take their positions on the wing, with Bontempelli the centreman.

Richmond's Dustin Martin and Ben Griffiths helped the Tigers to a win after the siren against the Sydney Swans, and while Lance Franklin's five goals couldn't help his team, it was good enough to land him a spot in the forward line, along with GWS star Jeremy Cameron, West Coast's Mark LeCras and Geelong's Steven Motlop.

Eagles' ruckman Nic Naitanui starts in the centre square with Liberatore and Cat Cam Guthrie at his feet, while Giant Dylan Shiel, Hawthorn's Jordan Lewis, Collingwood's Adam Treloar and Blue Bryce Gibbs finish off the 22 on the bench.

DALE MORRIS (Western Bulldogs) – The veteran was at his miserly best and combined well with the rest of the Dogs' defence to limit the influence of star Demon Jesse Hogan.

ROBBIE TARRANT (North Melbourne) – Came under plenty of fire when the Bombers came hard in the second half but finished the game with 20 disposals and 12 sacrificial acts for the ladder leaders.

HEATH SHAW (Greater Western Sydney) – Always the GWS architect, Shaw set up countless attacks from the back 50 with 28 possessions and is well on his way to another best and fairest.

MARK BAGULEY (Essendon) – One of Essendon's best, Baguley had 24 disposals at almost 80 per cent efficiency and laid six tackles against the Kangaroos.

LACHIE HENDERSON (Geelong) – Did a fantastic job on dangerous Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker, keeping him to just two goals while taking nine marks of his own.

SAM DOCHERTY (Carlton) – Gave the Blues tremendous drive from the back half and finished the day with a game-high 33 touches, taking 13 marks. 

JOSH KELLY (Greater Western Sydney) – The smooth-moving wingman was everywhere against the hapless Suns, grabbing 29 possessions for the afternoon, as well as eight clearances and two goals.

MARCUS BONTEMPELLI (Western Bulldogs) – Stood tall when the Dogs needed him against the improving Dees. Bontempelli had 33 touches, 17 of them contested and eight clearances.

SAM GIBSON (North Melbourne) – The Bombers had no answer to Gibson's power running, with the midfielder racking up 36 possessions at almost 90 per cent efficiency.

DUSTIN MARTIN (Richmond) – Brilliant around stoppages, Martin's 28 possessions and eight tackles helped inspire the Tigers to a thrilling win. 

LANCE FRANKLIN (Sydney Swans) – Another five-goal goal effort wasn't enough to save the Swans, but Franklin's 18 touches and nine inside 50s continued his stellar form.

STEVEN MOTLOP (Geelong) – The exciting Cat is in sensational form and booted another four goals against Adelaide, to take his tally to 11 in the past three games.

MARK LECRAS (West Coast) – Cashed in as the Eagles torched the Saints by triple figures, with his half-dozen goals reminding the rest of the league just how dangerous he is. 

JEREMY CAMERON (Greater Western Sydney) – The star forward dominated Gold Coast defender Sam Day in the air and at ground level to finish with another seven-goal haul.

BEN GRIFFITHS (Richmond) – Kicked five goals, including three in the vital final quarter against the Swans, and Tiger fans will be hoping it's a sign of things to come.

NIC NAITANUI (West Coast) – Worked hard to give his team first use out of the centre with 33 hit-outs and his dominance around stoppages never gave St Kilda a chance.

TOM LIBERATORE (Western Bulldogs) – A typical 'Libba' performance from the 2014 club champion. A record-breaking 20-plus tackles looked a lock before he ran out of steam in the final quarter.

CAM GUTHRIE (Geelong) – One of the competition's most underrated midfielders, Guthrie outshone his more high-profile teammates with 36 touches, 10 tackles and eight clearances against the Crows.

DYLAN SHIEL (Greater Western Sydney) – Part of an in-form GWS midfield unit and the side's most powerful runner, Shiel was unstoppable with 35 disposals against the Suns.

JORDAN LEWIS (Hawthorn) – The four-time premiership Hawk has bounced back to form in recent weeks and had 25 possessions, eight tackles and eight clearances against Fremantle.

ADAM TRELOAR (Collingwood) – Has been a rare positive for the Magpies in 2016, and Treloar was great again with another 36 disposals and three goals in his side's win over Brisbane.

BRYCE GIBBS (Carlton) – Carlton's best player over the past month, the midfielder has been a huge part of their four-game winning streak, and grabbed another 30 touches and seven tackles against Port.
