SMALL forward Cory Dell'Olio is likely to make his debut for Essendon against Carlton on Saturday after being elevated to the club's senior list as a replacement for Brent Prismall.

Football manager Paul Hamilton said Dell'Olio's elevation from the rookie list was a tribute to the 22-year-old's hard work over the pre-season.

"Cory had a terrific pre-season and we were impressed with his form early in the NAB Cup campaign, and as a result of his hard work, we are giving him the opportunity he deserves."

Prismall was placed on the club's long-term injury list after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in round 19 last year.

Dell'Olio, a 175cm forward, was selected by Essendon in the 2011 NAB AFL Rookie Draft with pick No. 29. He kicked 57 goals for South Fremantle in the WAFL last season.
