WAFL club East Perth has set up a recovery fund to assist the family of reserves player Beau Chatley as he recovers from serious neck and spinal injuries he suffered last week.

Chatley remains in intensive care after suffering serious injuries during a match against West Perth last Saturday.

The 21-year-old was injured in a tackle and was immediately taken to hospital where he required surgery on his neck and spinal cord.

He has remained in intensive care since but the club has reported that he is in good spirits and has made daily progress with some slight movement in his right hand.

Chatley remains in a critical but stable condition, and doctors are hopeful of moving him out of the intensive care unit in the coming days.

The Chatley family and East Perth have set up the Beau Chatley Recovery Fund to assist with initial medical costs and provide support for ongoing rehabilitation.

Chatley has played colts, reserves and league football for East Perth over the past five seasons. He also represented WA at the 2013 NAB AFL under-18 championships.

He had played 14 matches in the reserves this season and the Royals sit on top of the WAFL reserves ladder heading into round 18 this weekend.
