SCOTT Gumbleton will miss at least 12 weeks after scans confirmed the Fremantle forward had torn his right hamstring.

The 25-year-old was subbed out in the first quarter of Wednesday’s NAB Challenge match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

He had the scans late on Thursday and a Melbourne specialist confirmed the significance of the injury.

Football operations manager Chris Bond said Gumbleton had enjoyed a trouble-free pre-season and worked extremely hard since joining Fremantle from Essendon in the trade period last October.

“It’s very frustrating for Scott given the preparation he has had. At this stage we expect that he will miss the next 12 weeks,” Bond said.

Gumbleton had shown promise in Fremantle’s first NAB Challenge match against West Coast, kicking two goals.
