COLLINGWOOD'S depleted forward line could be placed under further pressure on Friday night, with Mason Cox in doubt for the clash against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

The big man hurt his right shoulder early in the first quarter against Richmond last Friday night, and battled through the rest of the game.

He finished with two goals from his four free kicks, ending the game with as many free kicks as kicks total, and appeared compromised.

AFL.com.au understands the 25-year-old's availability will depend on Thursday's training.

Cox has been a revelation in his second season at the club, kicking 17 goals in 11 senior games.

The American's absence would be keenly felt if he does not come up, with Darcy Moore in doubt after missing last week with a hamstring injury, and Alex Fasolo ruled out for the rest of the season after having shoulder surgery during the week.

Injury has smashed Collingwood's forward line this season with Jamie Elliott missing the season, Dane Swan being injured in the first game of the year, and Fasolo kicking his 25 goals in just 12 games.

Along with Travis Cloke's form, the injury toll has derailed the Magpies' best-laid plans for this season.

Veteran Tyson Goldsack is a chance to return against the Western Bulldogs after a month of solid VFL form, and the Magpies might consider using defender Adam Oxley inside the forward 50 after he kicked three goals against Coburg on Saturday.
