Following the announcement on February 11, 2015 by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews that AFL Commissioner The Hon Linda Dessau AM had been appointed to be the next Governor of Victoria, I can confirm that Linda will retire from the AFL Commission at our Annual General Meeting on March 25, 2015.
Ms Dessau’s term as Governor of Victoria begins on July 1, 2015
Given the changes to the AFL Commission in the past 12 months which include the retirement of AFL Commissioner Chris Lynch in March, 2014, the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Andrew Demetriou in April last year and the retirement of AFL Commissioners Bill Kelty and Chris Langford in December last year, I have asked Chris Langford to remain on the AFL Commission for a further 12 months.
Chris has kindly agreed to put off his retirement from the Commission for 12 months.
Major General Simone Wilkie and Jason Ball will formally join the AFL Commission at the Annual General Meeting, replacing Linda Dessau and Bill Kelty.
