FREMANTLE midfielders David Mundy and Nat Fyfe will launch their pre-season campaigns against Adelaide in a trial match at AAMI Stadium on Saturday morning.

While Fyfe has been carefully managed this pre-season following shoulder troubles in 2012, Mundy suffered a minor ankle injury three weeks ago and didn't play in Fremantle's opening NAB Cup matches last Saturday.

However, the key pair trained strongly on Thursday morning and have been included in a 26-man squad that will travel to Adelaide on Friday morning.

Captain Matthew Pavlich, who also joined the main group at Fremantle Oval on Thursday morning, will not play after his pre-season was hampered by back surgery.

However, the star forward is aiming to play in one of Fremantle's final two NAB Cup matches.

Club champion Ryan Crowley has also been left out after recovering from a pectoral injury. The run-with specialist has resumed full training and is expected to feature at some point in the NAB Cup.

Hayden Ballantyne, Michael Johnson and Luke McPharlin are notable omissions after featuring in the opening round of the NAB Cup.

Chris Mayne, meanwhile, has been left out after suffering a minor ankle injury in the club's shortened clash against Geelong.

With Aaron Sandilands sidelined for up to eight weeks with a hamstring injury, Fremantle has selected ruckmen Jon Griffin, Zac Clarke and recruit Jack Hannath.

The club will also unveil impressive draftee Tanner Smith, who is being considered as a key forward or key back option.
