GEELONG'S Cameron Mooney is facing a one-week ban for making front-on contact with Adelaide forward Graham Johncock on Sunday.

The match review panel offered the veteran the sanction after assessing the incident as negligent, low impact and high, attracting 125 demerit points and a one-match ban.

Mooney has an existing bad record that has seen him miss four matches in the past three years and increased the penalty to 175 demerit points.

An early plea can reduce this to 131.25 points and remain as a one-match ban.

If Mooney accepts he will miss the round 23 clash with the Sydney Swans with the Cats set to observe the bye this week.
