ADELAIDE'S first-year defender Max Michalanney has joined a batch of young teammates in signing contract extensions with the Crows.
Michalanney, who has played every game in his debut season, has inked a fresh two-year deal tying him to Adelaide until the end of the 2026 season.
The 19-year-old, who was already contracted to the end of next year, joins teammates Jake Soligo, Chayce Jones and Harry Schoenberg in announcing new deals in the past week.
"I've loved my time at the club so far, obviously the team is going really well and it would be nice to push deep into finals in coming years," Michalanney said in a statement on Tuesday.
Michalanney is Adelaide's first father-son selection to play in AFL ranks - his father Jim was a four-time premiership player at SANFL club Norwood in the 1970s and 1980s.
Adelaide's list manager Justin Reid said the club was "thrilled" to secure Michalanney on a longer contract.
"We knew we were getting a talented player and a quality young man when we drafted Max and we are delighted with how quickly he has developed at AFL level," Reid said.
"He’s tough and super competitive and shown he can play on a range of opponents ... he is a very important part of what we are building."
The Crows, who haven't reached the finals since 2017, sit in eighth spot on the ladder ahead of Sunday's MCG fixture against second-placed Collingwood.
