CARLTON fans are rejoicing after Chris Judd's wife Rebecca gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Tuesday.

The Blues' skipper had made clear his intention to forego an AFL game to stay with his wife should she go into labour with their first child on a weekend.

But the arrival of Oscar Dylan Judd at 11:05am on Tuesday clears the star onballer to continue his stellar string of performances against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

"Mum and baby are doing well," Judd told carltonfc.com.au.

Supporters from two camps will be hoping little Oscar is a chip off the old man's block in a football sense.

The dual Brownlow medallist has played 81 games for the Blues since crossing from West Coast, where he played 134 matches, and, assuming he plays 19 more games in navy blue, Oscar will be eligible to be claimed under the father-son rule by either club at the 2029 AFL Draft.
