SUPERSTAR Nat Fyfe was pulled from AFLX by Fremantle's fitness staff but the Dockers have no concerns about the captain's availability for the JLT Community Series.

Fyfe was the biggest name selected for AFLX but was withdrawn less than 24 hours after being picked for the trip to Adelaide.

Speaking at Perth Airport, assistant coach Anthony Rock allayed any fears the skipper had picked up an injury at training on Monday.

"He trained the other day and has had a pretty big preparation thus far with the International Rules Series (last November), so it's in his best interest and our best interest to manage his load, and that's what the strength and conditioning department came up with.

JLT Community Series: When's your team playing?

"It's really none of my concern. We get told by the strength and conditioning department (to) manage their loads and they said it's not right for him to play in this series.

"He'll be right for JLT."

Michael Walters is expected to captain the Dockers' AFLX squad, which features a host of best 22 players including club champion Bradley Hill, forward Cam McCarthy and emerging star Connor Blakely.

"(McCarthy) has had a terrific pre-season and we're really excited about him," Rock said.

"His work-rate up and down the field, that's his strength, and unfortunately last year we didn't have that support for him as a key tall.

"But this format will definitely suit him."

No.2 NAB AFL Draft pick Andrew Brayshaw plus former Gold Coast goalsneak Brandon Matera will also be unveiled in purple.

While Ross Lyon has travelled, Rock will lead the coaching for AFLX and said taking an experienced team to Adelaide was about more than just competing in the new format.

The Dockers, who were belted twice last year in South Australia, fly east to take on Adelaide in their first JLT match and then face Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval in round one.

Rock said the club wants to come to grips better with travelling to the city – even though AFLX will be played at Hindmarsh Stadium.

"It's really a good opportunity for our young guys and experienced guys to go back … because it wasn't a happy hunting ground for us last year," Rock said.

With Freo bringing in 22 new faces in the past two off-seasons, Rock added that many of those players were still working out their best travel routine.

"We had a meeting about that yesterday with the strength and conditioning (staff), our dietitian and nutritionist and outlined what the expectations are," he said.

"It's really developed over the years. Many years ago it was just hop on the plane, get over there and do what you do.

"But it's a real routine, bring your own pillow, really ensure that you eat at the hotel and be really guided by the strength and conditioning coaches."
