ADELAIDE has secured another significant victory just weeks after claiming its third AFLW premiership, with star midfielder and recently crowned best and fairest Anne Hatchard set to reject expansion interest.

Womens.afl understands Hatchard reaffirmed her commitment to remaining with the reigning premier this week, despite a considerable offer from incoming expansion outfit and fierce local rivals Port Adelaide.

The new South Australian expansion club had made a bold ploy to lure Hatchard to Alberton, alongside the club's triple-premiership legend Erin Phillips, as statement signings on the eve of their maiden season in the AFLW.

But the 24-year-old midfielder, who is a three-time premiership player, an Adelaide best and fairest, a three-time All-Australian and recently won the Grand Final's best on ground award, has opted to remain with the Crows for next season and beyond.

"Anne had signed a two-year deal last year and we're working with her manager to extend beyond that," the club's AFLW football boss Phil Harper told womens.afl.

Hatchard was the most influential player in Adelaide claiming its third AFLW flag earlier this month, finishing with 26 disposals, nine marks and six tackles to earn best on ground honours.

It capped Hatchard's remarkable rise to becoming one of the League's best and most dominant players, with the first game of next season set to be her 50th AFLW appearance in Crows colours.

Port Adelaide is likely to continue targeting more Adelaide premiership players in the coming weeks, with Phillips' signing still a priority for the club. As reported last week, young ruck Caitlin Gould is also on the Power's radar.

Hatchard's decision follows that of Brisbane star Emily Bates, who announced on Wednesday night that she would shun interest from Sydney and Hawthorn and commit her future to the Lions just weeks after winning the League best and fairest.

North Melbourne is another club to have staved off expansion interest in a series of players recently, with captain Emma Kearney and Irish gun Aileen Gilroy both committing to the club.

Kearney is now expected to lead the club for a fifth straight season, Gilroy had a significant offer from Hawthorn but has elected to remain at Arden Street, while prolific ball-winner Ash Riddell also turned down sizeable interest from Sydney.
