A KNOWN finals performer, Danielle Ponter stepped up when Adelaide needed her most

As Melbourne controlled territory and play in the final quarter, threatening to mow down the Crows' lead, a neat passage of play out of defence from the home side set up the moment of the match: a game sealing goal from the finals specialist.

Beginning with a long Chelsea Biddell kick in from defence, Adelaide's strength at ground level, evading pressure and firing off classy handballs to methodically work their way through Melbourne's defence, was on show.

Anne Hatchard and Eloise Jones won the ball, but it was second year player Teah Charlton's ability to get into space on the half forward flank that set up the shot.

Marking the ball and immediately turning, Charlton spotted up Ponter on a lead. Melbourne defender Gab Colvin simply had no chance of spoiling as Ponter protected the ball in front of her.

Despite going to ground, the Adelaide forward sprung back to her feet before anyone could go with her and slotted the sealer beautifully from a tight angle.

The roar was deafening as the Crows-heavy crowd knew their side had just sealed their third premiership from four Grand Final appearances. The most dominant team in AFLW history to date.

Ponter has kicked more goals in finals than any other AFLW player in history with 10, including five in Adelaide's last two premierships.
