FOUNDATION Blue Lauren Brazzale and rising Pie Amelia Velardo have swapped clubs.

In a move previously flagged by womens.afl, the wingers were involved in a trade which also saw Carlton obtain pick No.73 (39 Victorian) from the Pies and Collingwood gain pick Nos. 38 and 89 (Victorian 21 and 47) from the Blues.

Brazzale, 28, has played 41 games for Carlton over her six seasons at the club, but spent the final month of the 2022 season in the VFL.

The 20-year-old Velardo established herself on the wing in 2022, but is also capable of playing forward or back when required.

A basketballer who was drafted on the back of just three NAB League matches, Velardo has since racked up 11 games over two years and has also impressed at VFLW level during the AFLW off-season.

TRADE DAY 2 Dons sign trio, Power add WA pair

Carlton has now lost Maddy Prespakis and Georgia Gee (expansion signings to Essendon), Nicola Stevens (St Kilda), Charlotte Wilson (Melbourne) and Brazzale over the past few weeks, with Grace Egan (Richmond) and Courtney Jones (Gold Coast) also expected to move.

The Blues are likely to gain Phoebe McWilliams from Geelong. The veteran key forward has not yet been offered a contract by the club, meaning she could walk as a delisted free agent if a deal is not reached.

It comes on a big day of trades that saw Melbourne's Krstel Petrevski and Isabella Simmons traded West Coast as the Demons continue to strengthen their draft hand.

As previously reported by womens.afl, Petrevski was looking to return to her home state of Western Australia and land with the depleted Eagles. The clever small forward has kicked two goals from her four games, but has battled injury and a deep Melbourne list in her three years at the club.

Simmons, yet to make her debut, was inactive last season due to a foot injury, but made her return to VFLW footy recently.

“It’s always sad when players depart, but both Krstel and Isabella have been provided fantastic opportunities to progress their career in a new environment,” Melbourne's AFLW list manager Todd Patterson said.

The Demons have also sent their fourth round pick (No.77) to West Coast, receiving the Eagles' pick No.50 in return.

It follows an earlier announcement on Thursday that Melbourne forwards Jackie Parry and Shelley Scott were moving to Geelong, while Cats defender Jordan Ivey and Carlton defender Charlotte Wilson were headed to the Dees.

Parry and Scott were traded to Geelong for Ivey and pick No.51 (No.26 in Victoria, a third-round selection), while Wilson has been traded to Melbourne for pick No.42 (No.23 in Victoria, a second-rounder).

Key forward Parry, 25, found herself out of Melbourne's powerful side by the end of the season and has booted six goals from her 22 games.

Veteran Scott, 34, has been a mainstay at centre half-forward for the Demons since round one, 2017, kicking 26 goals from her 49 matches and impressing with her strong marking.

She co-captained the side in 2019 during Daisy Pearce's absence, and combines her footy with her farm in Gerangamete, which is about halfway between Colac and Lorne.

While it would previously take Scott two hours to drive to training (longer again if the Dees were in Casey), the trip to Geelong will be half that.

As previously reported by womens.afl, Wilson was keen for a fresh start at Melbourne, having struggled to retain her position at key back following the rapid development of Paige Trudgeon.

The 21-year-old's ability to lock down an opponent will hold her in good stead alongside the likes of intercept markers Libby Birch and Gabby Colvin.

The versatile Ivey was one of just three Cats to live in Melbourne this year, travelling down for training.

Capable of lining up at either end of the field, she has played 33 games (including two at Carlton in 2017) over five seasons, having been out of the system in 2018.
