THE FIRST trade of the 2022 AFLW Sign and Trade Period has been completed, with Carlton forward Nicola Stevens heading to St Kilda for a first-round selection.

As previously reported by womens.afl last month, the Saints were keen to land the classy Blue who hit a nice vein of form in attack this year.

The pick used in the deal is currently No.28.

It will be Stevens' third club, having won a best and fairest at Collingwood in 2017.

Also capable of playing across half-back, Stevens will help settle a Saints forward line that struggled to hit the scoreboard in 2022.

"I'm really excited to join the Saints," Stevens said.

"After meeting with Nick Dal Santo, Tessie McManus and some players and staff I just knew this was the right place for me to be heading into season seven.

"I’m looking forward to getting to know all the girls a bit more and head into pre-season with a real appetite for growth and to see this group succeed."

Richmond and Geelong also completed a straight swap for young players Ingrid Houtsma and Stephanie Williams.

Tall utility Houtsma – a Geelong Falcons product – did not play a game in her debut season, battling a calf injury for a portion of it.

Dangerous forward Williams will cross to the Tigers with four games under her belt from her two years on Geelong's list.
