MELBOURNE has welcomed talented Gaelic footballer Blaithin Mackin to its list for season seven.

The fourth Irish recruit to don the red and blue, Mackin plays with Armagh in the Ladies Gaelic Football league and is likely to line-up in attack for the Dees thanks to her exciting combination of speed and composure.

"Blaithin is a very exciting prospect for us to bring over and develop, post the conclusion of her Armagh season," list manager Todd Patterson told Melbourne Media.

"Blaithin comes from a great GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) family with numerous siblings that have helped develop her into a very impressive young woman."

Mackin will join fellow Irishwoman Sinead Goldrick on Melbourne's list for the upcoming season.

"It’ll be great having Blaithin learn the game, not only from our group but also Sinead, who now has a couple of seasons under her belt," Patterson said.

"We’re confident this will set Blaithin up well for this season and beyond."

Mackin joins Jordan Ivey, Charlotte Wilson and Rhiannon Watt as additions to the Demons in recent weeks, with Watt immediately moved to the inactive list as she recovers from a ruptured ACL.

The club holds picks 45, 50, 80 and 95 (24, 27, 42 and 51 in Victoria) for the coming NAB AFLW Draft, to be held on June 29th.
