PORT Adelaide young gun Hannah Ewings has been named the NAB AFLW Rising Star of season seven, beating out midfield partner Abbey Dowrick for the top spot.

The smooth-moving Ewings was drafted with pick No.3 in the draft, the first selection in South Australia, and played all 10 games in her – and Port Adelaide's – debut season.

Averaging 13.9 disposals, 4.9 tackles and 3.9 clearances across the season, she became the first player in AFLW history to register three or more goals and nine or more clearances in a single game.

As the season went on, Ewings developed a formidable midfield duo with the second-placed Dowrick, giving Port Adelaide fans plenty to look forward to in the coming years. Of the nine selectors, six gave Ewings the maximum five votes, while the other three opted for Dowrick, indicating the dominance of the Power duo.
