FREMANTLE star Ebony Antonio will be sidelined for 8-10 weeks after scans confirmed a PCL injury after landing awkwardly in Saturday's practice match.

Antonio was diving for a desperate smother deep in the forward pocket late in the first quarter and immediately grabbed at her right knee upon landing, punching the ground.

She was helped from the field and after attempting some tests on the sidelines with heavy strapping, Antonio walked to the rooms in tears.

"The injury is incredibly frustrating for Ebony who was preparing to play her 50th AFLW game in round one against Brisbane," Fremantle head of football operations and performance Bob Murphy said.

"We hope to see Ebony play a part in the second half of the season, but until then we will wrap our arms around 'Epps' in hopes for a quick recovery."
