A HANDFUL of players have joined AFLW lists, with Collingwood signing Irish rookie Aishling Sheridan and Gold Coast adding defender Lauren Ahrens and midfielder Molly Ritson.

Fremantle and Brisbane have signed their final rookies, adding netballer Lindal Rohde and soccer player Greta Bodey to their lists respectively, while Richmond has signed ruck Alice Edmonds.

Sheridan is a Gaelic footballer who plays forward from County Cavan in the north of Ireland.

The 22-year-old has actually played two games for VFLW side NT Thunder this year after being identified in last year's Crosscoders program, but has chosen to sign with Collingwood.

"Aish has been on the radar of at least three clubs and we're rapt that she decided to find a home at the Holden Centre," Collingwood head of women's sport Jane Woodlands-Thompson said.

"There's a really high transfer of skill from the Gaelic game to Australian Rules football and we've seen that success in (Magpie) Sarah Rowe and across the league."

It takes the number of Irishwomen in the AFLW to 12, while womens.afl understands the Western Bulldogs are on the verge of signing Katy Herron, another Irish Gaelic footballer from County Donegal.

Meanwhile, the Suns have added key back Ahrens to their list as an open-age signing.

The 26-year-old, originally from Coolangatta, has shot through the playing ranks over the past few years, playing for former VFLW side St Kilda Sharks' reserves side before joining Melbourne Uni last year.

She is currently playing for Essendon's VFLW side while completing her masters of teaching degree in Melbourne, and is also representing the Suns in the Winter Series.

Ritson, who was on Brisbane's list in 2018 as a rookie but was sidelined with a stress fracture in her foot, is captain of QAFLW side Bond University.

A Gold Coast local, the 19-year-old is an inside midfielder who has represented the Suns in the Winter Series.

Fremantle's Rohde started playing football at WAFLW club Subiaco this year alongside Dockers midfielder Hayley Miller, who alerted the club to her talent.

The 28-year-old is expected to play on the wing, and in her netball career was a train-on player with national league side West Coast Fever.

Bodey has followed a similar path in Queensland, playing for University of Queensland in the QAFLW in her first season and consequently being invited down to training.

A forward/midfielder, the 23-year-old used to play soccer.

For the Tigers, Edmonds has been promoted from the club's VFLW list after winning 2018 VFLW team of the year honours and a strong start to this season, averaging 32 hitouts and 10 disposals a match.

At 189cm, the 21-year-old former basketballer is the equal-tallest player on an AFLW list (along with Greater Western Sydney's Erin McKinnon).

Rookies can continue to be signed up until August 30, while the four expansion sides – Gold Coast, Richmond, St Kilda and West Coast – can also sign open-age players until the same date.
